Season 2 of the PBS series finished on Apr. 24 with an episode that left its protagonist Charlotte (Rose Williams), at a fork in the path. Fortunately, viewers may relax knowing that the show will definitely return for another season. Here's all we know so far about Sanditon Season 3, including which main characters have been confirmed to return.

PBS confirms Sanditon Season 3

Sanditon is based on Jane Austen's unfinished novel. Charlotte Heywood travels to Sanditon, a seaside resort, where she meets aspiring entrepreneurs, miserly grand dames, and dashing gentlemen.

In Season 2 of Sanditon, Charlotte is still hurting over the death of her first love, Sidney Parker (Theo James). She is quickly sidetracked, however, by a job as a nanny for the reclusive Alexander Colbourne. They gradually develop a friendship and eventually fall in love.

The show has been renewed for a third season, which will broadcast sometime in 2023, according to PBS.

Fans will have to wait and watch how Charlotte goes ahead following the disappointments of Season 2. However, in an interview with PBS, Williams stated that her character will become more comfortable with herself in subsequent episodes of the show.

Sanditon Season 3 will see the departure of two characters

While Colbourne will return for Sanditon Season 3, his adversary Lennox will not, according to Decider. Fans will also not see any more of Esther (Charlotte Spencer), whose journey came to a natural end in the Season 2 finale.

Charles Lockhart is one of the characters whose tale will be continued in the new episode (Alexander Vlahos). Georgiana (Crystal Clarke), who learned in the Season 2 finale that her mother was still alive, will also return. Arthur Parker's actor Turlough Convery has confirmed that his character would feature in Sanditon Season 3.

How many Sanditon episodes are there?

Season 1 of Sanditon included eight episodes, while Season 2 had six. Sanditon Season 3 is expected to have six episodes as well. Sanditon will have a total of 20 episodes over three seasons.
