What Is Sand Land About?
The anime, officially called Sand Land: The Series, is set in the far future.
Conflict has ravaged planet Earth transforming it into a desolate land where the essential water supply falls under the control of a ravenous ruler.
Meanwhile, Sheriff Rao, in pursuit of a legendary lake lost to time, seeks aid from the demon king.
Surprisingly, he is granted assistance in the form of the king’s son named Beelzebub, and his cunning accomplice, Thief.
Together, this unlikely trio embarks on a perilous journey across the barren wasteland, encountering bandits, dragons, and their most formidable opponent – the king’s deadly army.
Sand Land Anime Release: What We Know So Far
As of writing, the official release date of the Sand Land anime is yet to be announced. However, Disney+ Japan has confirmed that the Sand Land anime series will be released in Spring 2024.
This means the anime could premiere sometime between March and May 2024.
Sand Land Anime Cast and Staff
The main Japanese voice cast of the Sand Land anime is out, and it features actors from the Sand Land anime movie.

- Kazuhiro Yamaji (Kenny Ackerman in Attack on Titan) as Rao
- Mutsumi Tamura (Alan Stuart in My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!) as Beelzebub
- Cho (Jaken in Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon) as Thief
- Satoshi Tsuruoka (Zanoba Shirone in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation) as General Are
- Nobuo Tobita (Takezo Kamota in My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Lv999) as General Zau
Where to Watch the Sand Land Anime
The Sand Land anime is slated to stream exclusively on Disney+ Star’s STAR Anime Series programming block.
Toshihisa Yokoshima (The Wake of Sin) is directing the anime series. Hayashi Mori (Cells at Work! Code Black) is handling the script of the series.
Meanwhile, Yugo Kanno (Psycho-Pass) has been roped in to compose the music score for Sand Land anime.

The official trailer of the Sand Land anime is not yet out. But Disney+ Japan has shared the key visual of the upcoming anime series.
The series will distinguish itself from its cinematic counterpart by showcasing scenes that were not part of the movie.
The anime series will also include famous scenes from the manga series and new story elements by Toriyama that extend beyond the events depicted in the anime movie.
