This just in, Marvel fans! It looks like Samuel L. Jackson won't be relieved of his duties in the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon as his beloved character Agent Nick Fury will be having his own spinoff series on Disney+.

Variety first broke the news out that the famed spy and former director of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.) will return via the series which will be penned and produced by Kyle Bradstreet. Other details about the project, such as its director and plot have yet to be disclosed as of writing. Disney and Marvel Studios have also declined to give a comment about the news.

Now, I don't know about you but this series has me excited. Obviously, Fury is a vital ally to the Avengers but oftentimes, his own character arc would get sidelined in favor of the other heroes. While we still don't know whether this show will be set in the present time or will be a prequel, it's still great that the spotlight will be put solely on Fury without his own arc getting compromised. This development also leaves the door wide open for other supporting characters to have their own standalone series. Who knows, characters who don't have plenty of screen time like Agent Maria Hill or maybe Ant-Man's Luis could be getting their time to shine at some point. I'm stoked about this!

Samuel L. Jackson's last appearance in the MCU came in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home.
