There would be no Avengers without Nick Fury and he is finally getting more time in the spotlight as he stars in more Marvel projects such as The Marvels and Secret Invasion, a movie and a series respectively. The actor playing the role, Samuel L. Jackson, shares some filming updates on the said titles.
Samuel L. Jackson has been a staple in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Nick Fury, the man behind the assembly of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Avengers, and he will continue to be in the franchise for a long time as he reprises his role for the upcoming Marvel projects The Marvels, a movie, and Secret Invasion, a series.
In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Samuel L. Jackson gave a brief update on the filming of The Marvels and Secret Invasion, "No. I'm not done. I am on my way back to London at some point in August. But I got to go back and do stuff for The Marvels and then I got to do stuff for Secret Invasion."
Nick Fury’s presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is pivotal. There would not be an Avengers team if he hadn’t pushed for it. As seen in Iron Man and Captain Marvel, Nick Fury thought that it is best for the Earth to have a defense when it comes to villainous events such as the rise of Ultron and the arrival of Thanos.
Nick Fury is theorized to have been swapped to a Skrull at some point in the MCU after the events of Infinity War where he turned to ashes among the half of the universe snapped by Thanos. This has been hinted at in Spider-Man: No Way Home when Agent Cleary revealed that Fury is not on Earth, and if it is true, where else could he be?
It is expected that the real Nick Fury would explain where he had been after being snapped back in Endgame. Nick Fury’s appearance in The Marvels hints at the reunion between him and Captain Marvel after years of being apart where the latter went on to save the other worlds in the universe.
It is in Secret Invasion where it is expected for Nick Fury to explain whether he is really swapped to a Skrull or not and if so, what was he up to when he was not around.
The Marvels is currently slated for release in theaters on July 28, 2023, and Secret Invasion is expected to come out sometime in late 2022.
