If you watched Eternals over the weekend, you may have been shocked by what happened to Ajak. However, that doesn't necessarily mean we won't be seeing more of Salma Hayek in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard star has confirmed that she signed on to work on multiple MCU films. But could this mean we're getting a sequel to Eternals?
In Eternals, Ajak is the leader of the group. However, it is revealed that she was supposedly killed by Kro and the rest of the Deviants. Ajak's demise was unfortunate but it gave the Eternals the determination to defeat the Deviants and prevent the birth of a new Celestial.
The film made it clear that Ajak isn't coming back anytime soon. However, Salma Hayek confirmed on the Smallzy's Surgery podcast that she signed a deal that included multiple MCU projects.
"I did sign multiple movie deals!" Hayek said. "It was kind of fun being part of this... secret society that you have to protect so fearlessly!"
It's an interesting confirmation considering that her character was killed off pretty early in Eternals. Still, fans are hoping that this could mean Ajak will be back if the movie gets a sequel in the future.
An Eternals sequel isn't the only possible MCU project for Salma Hayek. There is always a chance that Ajak will show up elsewhere in the MCU, possibly playing a major role in a Disney+ show or another Marvel film. However, the plans for the character have not yet been revealed. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
Eternals is directed by Chloe Zhao and also stars Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Harish Patel, Kit Harington, and Angelina Jolie. The film is currently screening in theaters.
