The upcoming Fall 2021 season has yet another series of exciting and diverse shows to look forward to. And in this season's line-up, there's something for fans of the sci-fi and mecha genre. Make sure to keep an eye out for Sakugan, coming this October 2021.
Sakugan follows the story of Memenpu, a young nine-year-old girl genius, and her father, Gagumber. The anime is set in a futuristic time where human beings live deep in the underground in a world called the Labyrinth. One of the colonies of the Labyrinth is called Pinyin, where the father and daughter duo reside. Their job is considered the lowest in the "Worker" rankings, which is mining for ore inside a robot. Memenpu tells her father they should become Markers — explorers of the Labyrinth — a dangerous yet exciting job that allows them to travel outside of their colony. Gagumber eventually agrees, and alongside this journey, they also aim to find Memenpu's mother.
Sakugan, or Sacks&Guns, is adapted from the novel written by Nekotarō Inui called Sakugan Labyrinth Marker. The story was awarded as the runner-up in the Science-Fiction/Robot category of Project Anima in 2018. Satelight is handling the series' production. Junichi Wada is doing the direction and series composition. Tatsuya Katō is in charge of the music, while Yuji Iwahara is in charge of character designs.
As for the cast, Memenpu will be played by Kanon Amane, while Hiroki Touchi will play Gagumber. The rest of the cast includes:

The first episode of Sakugan will be out on Thursday, October 7, 2021.
