If the idea of Ryan Reynolds crossing over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe wasn't crazy enough, the Deadpool actor has brought with him some reinforcement as he gears up for the Merc with a Mouth's anticipated Earth-616 debut. Of course, all of you are well aware by now that Deadpool 3 will see the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, years after his last big-screen outing as the beloved mutant.

It turns out that Ryan has been trying to woo Jackman from stepping out of "retirement" for years and it came to a point that he lost hope that his good pal would ever reprise his mutant role. The revelation came from Hugh himself who recently spoke to Variety about his decision to come back.

He explains: "I think, actually, he’d given up. I think it was a big shock to him. There was a massive pause, and then he said, ’I can’t believe the timing of this.’"

Reynolds also shared how thrilled he is to be working with one of his closest friends in Hollywood on a project that quite frankly is long overdue. He said: "Oh my God, I’m thrilled. It’s like old home week. To get to be on set with one of my closest friends each and every day is a dream come true. But to do it with these two iconic characters side by side, that’s beyond our wildest dreams."

Thankfully, Marvel Studios was able to talk Jackman into reprising his role and it's definitely the boost Reynolds needs as he embarks in a new adventure outside the now-defunct FoxVerse.

Marvel Studios' Deadpool 3 is currently slated for release on November 8, 2024.
