Ryan Reynolds Almost Played Surprising Character In Zombieland: Double Tap

There is little doubt that the new stars of Zombieland: Double Tap played their roles perfectly. But can you imagine one of these new characters being played by Ryan Reynolds? It has just been revealed that the Deadpool star almost appeared in the sequel as one of its memorable new survivors.

Double Tap writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have previously worked with Reynolds on Deadpool and its sequel so it's understandable why they wanted to keep working with the actor. Interestingly, they told Deadline that Reynolds was supposed to play new character Albuquerque in Zombieland 2 but the actor was too busy. The role ultimately went to Luke Wilson, who absolutely nailed it as Tallahassee's doppelganger.

"We made it a goal to do only Ryan Reynolds movies," Wernick said. "But this one slipped through our fingers. Luke was amazing and it worked out terrific for us."

First of all, Wilson was awesome as Albuquerque and we wouldn't want to change anything about his performance. On the other hand, we can't help but imagine how hilarious it would have been if the character was played by Reynolds in the first place.

For now, it's still unclear if Reynolds will actually show up in a zombie film soon. In the meantime, his upcoming projects include Six Underground, which hits theaters on December 13, and the sequel The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard.

Zombieland: Double Tap is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
