Ryan Coogler Isn't Thinking About A Black Panther Sequel Yet

Black Panther will be making its way to US audiences in two days and the hype for said film continues to escalate. Critics have been heaping praise on the film for its tone, setting, and villains, hence the excitement fans are feeling right now. With the film set to be a box office success and the people at Marvel planning movies beyond Avengers: Infinity War, fans have been curious about a sequel.

According to Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, he isn't thinking about a sequel to the film. Yet.

Speaking with ET about the possibilities of a sequel, Coogler humorously stated that he isn't thinking about that yet since the important subject is the current film. That does make a ton of sense since some films are criticized for setting up future movies instead of telling a good self-contained story - *cough* The Mummy *cough* - so focusing on the film that's out right now is a good decision.

"Man, I'm just here to talk about Black Panther. That's all I can talk about. That's all I can think about! We gotta sell the movie and get it out there! That's where my head is. I'm at the last stage of delivering the baby, you know what I'm saying?"

It's definitely too early to assume what will happen in a sequel since Avengers: Infinity War will be out in a few months. T'Challa and Wakanda will play a huge part in that, taking on Thanos' Black Order. Here's hoping that they live through that film and survive for a future installment.

Black Panther comes out on February 16.
