Ryan Coogler Claims That He’s Not Working on Black Panther 2 Yet

It's a little hard to believe that Black Panther came out earlier this year and took the world by storm but that's exactly what happened. While not as gushed over as it once was, many still believe that the movie is of high quality and is one of the better MCU installments of recent memory. It might not be The Dark Knight but some would argue that it's pretty darn close to it.

Director Ryan Coogler is one reason why the film has done so well and reports claim that he is expected to return for the sequel, which is reportedly aiming for a 2021 release. However, during an interview with IndieWire, Coogler made it seem like that wasn't the case as he claimed that no progress has been made on the sequel. At least not yet.

Not to sound too cynical but Coogler could be lying about this but it's also possible that he is busy with other projects. After all, if the supposed 2021 release date is legitimate then there is plenty of time before Black Panther 2 comes out. We're still not sure what the sequel will be called since Marvel has abandoned putting numbers on their sequels, outside of the Iron Man films, so expect a different name.

Coogler's next movie is the sequel to Creed, so he will probably be busy dealing with public screenings of that before working on the next Marvel movie. Hopefully, Black Panther 2 lives up to expectations and is as good as the first movie, if not better.

Black Panther may or may not return in Avengers 4, which comes out on May 3, 2019.
