Rumor: Could Star Wars IX be Revisiting Naboo?

Star Wars Episode IX is set to start shooting this month, and some news has lead others to speculate that the movie could be bringing us to the familiar location of Naboo.

As per Reddit, Lake Como, which stood in for Naboo back in the prequels, is currently set to host a production of at least 800s extras. Here's the post:

Of course, it's possible that this could be for a totally different movie, but the huge number of extras plus the ‘American movie of international relevance' description could point out to a big budget film like Star Wars IX.

For now, all fans can do is just speculate. Originally, the movie was set to come out May of 2019, but after original director Colin Trevorrow was fired, the film's release had to be pushed back to December of 2019 in order to give J.J. Abrams and Chris Terrio time to develop the script.

Though I am enjoying the new locations that have been introduced in the sequel trilogy, I wouldn't be opposed to coming back to a familiar place. Best guess? The movie will have a scene depicting Leia's funeral, and since Alderaan doesn't exist, they would hold the ceremony in the home planet of her mother—which is Naboo.

We don't know anything for sure, but Lucasfilm will surely update us when they think it's the right time.

Star Wars Episode IX is set to come out Dec. 20, 2019.
