Ruben Fleischer Talks About Fans Who are Sexually Attracted to Venom

Sony had just dropped a new trailer for Venom and it actually gives us a full body look at the lethal protector. Like the internet always does, they've managed to sexualize the character, and director Ruben Fleischer was asked to comment on this.

When asked by ET about the fans who were sexually attracted to Venom, Fleischer replied:

"I was super surprised that that was a result that came from that trailer. Never could have predicted it; but if you go down that rabbit hole it is a very strange and somewhat interesting place."

If you've been on the internet long enough, you'll know that nothing will be safe from being sexualized on the internet—much less someone like Venom. If there are people who manage to find Pokemon attractive, what more a buff symbiotic alien with an affinity for tentacles?

For now, the reception for the Venom trailer had come kind of mixed. Though the character admittedly looks amazing, some choices of dialogue were considered a bit questionable. We now live in a reality where Venom insults someone by calling them a ‘turd in the wind'.

How poetic.

Catch Venom when it hits theaters later this year on Oct. 5.
