The royal family was called racist after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey last year. However, according to British author and investigative journalist Tom Bower, after his most recent book Revenge, it was an unfair attack against the members of the firm.
Racist Attacks Against Royal Family Were Reportedly Unforgivable
Bower joined Jo Elvin in last week's episode of MailPlus' Palace Confidential. The pair discussed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who are the subject of Bower's new book Revenge.
Elvin brought up the controversial interview with Elvin Winfrey for a CBS special that sparked many to call the royal family racist, and Bower addressed it. According to him, it was from a conversation that shouldn't be taken seriously.
"I don't think it was a serious conversation. I think it was just one passing mention," he told Elvin, as quoted by Express. "To use that to attack the Royal Family, I thought that was unforgivable."
He also attacked Winfrey for lack of effort to find out the truth.
"And unforgivable for Oprah Winfrey not to investigate it further to see about the contradiction between Harry's version and Meghan's version," he continued.
The host asked Bower if the alleged racist royal was already identified. The author did not drop any name but said that "there are hints in the book."
"I won't talk through it, there are hints in the book," he continued.
Did A Member Of The Royal Family Make Racist Comment About Meghan And Harry's Unborn Children?
In Tom Bower's book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors, he mentioned that Duchess Camilla once joked about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's future children having "ginger Afro hair," Page Six reported.
"During those weeks, Harry met Charles and Camilla at Clarence House. In Harry's version, the conversation alternated between serious and joking and touched three topics," Bower wrote.
"First, Harry was told that Meghan should continue with her acting career. Second, Scotland Yard could not automatically be expected to pay for his girlfriend's 24-hour protection," the author continued. "And third, according to Harry, someone speculated about what his future child would 'look like.' In one version, Camilla remarked, 'Wouldn't it be funny if your child had ginger Afro hair?'"

Prince Charles' youngest son reportedly "laughed" at his stepmother's comment. However, when he told the conversation about Markle, it hit differently.
"Meghan’s reaction to that conversation turned Harry’s amusement into fury," Bower claimed.
Markle told Oprah Winfrey that there were "concerns and conversations about how dark" their unborn child's skin might be. The Duke and Duchess of Sussexes declined to name the royal, saying it would be too damaging for them.
Meanwhile, a "highly placed" source defended Duchess Camilla and told Page Six that she's not racist.
"Camilla is not racist — I can tell you categorically she is not the royal who Harry and Meghan were talking about," the anonymous insider said.
