Rotten Tomatoes Declares Shazam! As Certified Fresh

It looks like reviews for the DC Extended Universe's Shazam! are already in and now the film's rated Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Rotten Tomatoes just took to Twitter to announce its latest rating for David F. Sandberg's upcoming comic book movie and according to the review aggregator site, Shazam! is Certified Fresh with a score of 93%.

For those who're new to the Rotten Tomatoes system, specific requirements have to be met for a film to earn the Certified Fresh seal from the site. One, a film has to keep up a Tomatometer critic score that's 75% or higher. Not only that, but a film must have alteast five great reviews by the site's Tio Critics with atleast a total of 80 reviews, especially for films which are widely released like blockbusters like Shazam!.

The DC Extended Universe may have had a hard time finding its bearing, but films like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam! are certainly turning the tide.

Most of the reviews for Shazam! right now praise the film for its "heartwarming story," its ability to be "buoyant and unpretentious," and for being "family friendly but not childish."

These great reviews should be a sign of the film's potential for success. Unfortunately, the film's tracking isn't doing so well – right now Shazam! is projected to have the lowest opening weekend in the DCEU, with analysts predicting a gross of upwards $40 million at the domestic box office.

Fans shouldn't really worry though, Aquaman had the lowest opening when it premiered back in December ($67.8 million), and yet the film turned out to be the highest earning film in the franchise. Let's just wait and see.

Shazam! premieres April 05, 2019.
