Rotten Tomatoes Considering Other Methods To Deal With Trolls After Captain Marvel Issue

Despite Captain Marvel's commercial success, Brie Larson's first standalone film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to receive review bombs on Rotten Tomatoes audience review category. The site first addressed earlier review bombs by taking down the film's "Want To See" option before the film's premiere. Now, Rotten Tomatoes is considering additional measures to keep the trolls at bay.

The Hollywood Reporter has the newest details regarding Rotten Tomatoes plans to improve the integrity of its audience scores, and according to the publication, the site is looking at different measures to prevent trolls from review bombing films. One of these measures requires users to verify whether they've seen a film before they're allowed to post any sort of review on the movie.

Rotten Tomatoes is still looking into the matter, though there isn't any word how exactly this new security measure might be implemented.

While Rotten Tomatoes has been the number one go to review aggregate site for movie reviews, trolls have learned to bring down films that they feel strongly against because of "social justice warrior mentality," "agenda pushing," and "too much feminism."

Right now, Captain Marvel continues to suffer from the weight of these negative reviews. The film's audience score sits at a tepid 66% - a number which doesn't really reflect the film's box office success.

Despite these concerns, Captain Marvel continues pushing higher, faster, and further at the box office with analysts expecting a great second weekend for the film.

Captain Marvel is currently screening in cinemas.
