Once The Mandalorian Season 3 ended, Star Wars fans began anticipating the next upcoming live-action series, Ahsoka, with Rosario Dawson taking the lead.

Considering Dawson has already debuted the live version of Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian series, fans already know what to expect from her performance in leading her own show.

However, the actress weighed in on a daunting lightsaber training experience she had to face before ‘locking’ into Ahsoka.

“She is ambidextrous, that was just a lot to kind of own.” Dawson shared in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.

The Ahsoka star added, “She’s so fierce from the very beginning, it was never a question about whether she is capable. She meets every single match just head on. There’s no hesitancy from her whatsoever.”

“There was definitely a moment a few months into the training where I just felt it land in my body in a way.”

Dawson said, “I remember when it clicked in where I really felt grounded in her and some of the stuff started feeling more familiar and seamless. That’s when I really felt like I locked into Ahsoka.”

This is not the first time a Star Wars actor shed light on their experience training with the lightsaber. In fact, just previously, Sabine Wren actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo, felt the same way.

“It’s been really hard talking about my fight training without talking about the fact that it’s ‘saber training’, which is literally all I’ve been doing for so long.” Bordizzo said.

Dawson and Bordizzo shared one distinct description on how the lightsaber training went on.

In this case, Dawson claimed it “different from someone who’s learning martial arts in their 40s who’s trying to protect their face.”

Meanwhile, Bordizzo had her own insight, “The Mandalorian [physicality] is very Western, and then the ‘saber style’ is very samurai-influenced.”

Needless to say, both actors have their work cut out for them. We can expect how their lightsaber training pays off once Ahsoka drops on Disney Plus this August.

Ahsoka is reportedly expected to be released on Disney+ on August 31 this year. Stay tuned for more updates on this story!
