Rogue One's Donnie Yen Being Eyed as Villain for Marvel’s Shang-Chi?

Captain Marvel was a big success for Marvel Studios, and the studio is continuing their trend of representation in superhero movies. Shang-Chi is said to focus on the first Asian lead in a Marvel film, and rumor has it that the movie already has an idea on who should play the villain.

According to Geek Vibes Nation, Rogue One's Donnie Yen is being eyed as the villain of the film:

Yen is a martial arts superstar, and though he mostly plays hero roles in films, he has already proven he can play the villain from time to time. He actually went head-to-head with Jackie Chan in Shanghai Knights.

Interestingly enough, Yen would be three-for-three with Disney is he manages to land this role in a Marvel film. He's already starred in a Star Wars movie, plus he's playing a Commander Tung in the upcoming live-action Mulan. If he gets cast in Shang-Chi, Yen would have starred in Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney films. Not too many people can brag about that on their resume.

For now, we should just take this news as a rumor. The way it looks, Shang-Chi is still in very early stages of pre-production. The only name we have on the crew is director Destin Daniel Cretton. We don't even have someone for the lead role yet.

No release date has been set for Shang-Chi, but hopefully, we get some more solid updates once Avengers: Endgame comes out.
