While Star Wars is currently in the sequel trilogy timeline now, there have been films bringing us back to the OT timeline like Rogue One and Solo. With Jon Favreau's upcoming Mandalorian series, we have some set photos which seemingly confirm the return of a stormtrooper class introduced in Rogue One.
Thanks to MakingStarWars, we could have our first look at some guys in Deathtrooper gear:
So far, the Deathtroopers have been presented as an elite version of the stormtrooper and they were the guard of one Director Orson Krennic. They also appeared alongside Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels.
Granted that each new film in Star Wars presented a new kind of trooper, it's cool that we actually have a returning class coming back onscreen. Out of all the alternate troopers presented by Star Wars Disney, I think the Deathtrooper still manages to stand out the most.
Then again, my guess could be wrong and this could be a totally new kind of trooper. Until we get some kind of official teaser, I guess we'll just have to wait.
We don't know when Star Wars: The Mandalorian will come out, but it's expected to debut along with Disney's streaming service, Disney+, next year. My guess is that they would be giving us our first teaser at Star Wars Celebration next year, but thinking that the event would have Episode IX in the spotlight, maybe we could get our first look at The Mandalorian before the year ends.
Catch Star Wars: The Mandalorian when it comes out sometime next year.
