"Your move, creep."
The Mortal Kombat franchise has evolved into this hodgepodge of a fighting game that gives us playable characters from pop culture like Kratos, Freddy Kreuger, and more. With MK 11 set to come out later this year, it seems that game director Ed Boon has confirmed that Robocop is going to be coming to the game.
His post was actually a response to the news that Peter Jackson would be working on a Beatles movie. Boon posted:
While the hashtag clearly puts out that Robocop is confirmed, a lot of people are still expressing their doubts seeing as the MK franchise would've spelled it "Konfirmed." Either way, Robocop would be a fitting addition to the roster, and it may be our only chance to ever get to control him in a modern video game.
Just in case you're confused about the "buy that for a dollar" line, it's a popular meme from the first Robocop movie:
If Robocop should come to the game though, I'm guessing he's only going to be part of a DLC package. Ed Boon had teased several characters before, including the T-800 Terminator and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. With the likes of Hellboy and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles joining Injustice, it would make sense to bring some pop culture characters into MK. How about Pennywise the Clown? You can have skins from both versions of IT. Liam Neeson's Darkman? Other fans have asked Boon to consider Spawn or Judge Dredd be added to the game.
Mortal Kombat 11 comes out April 11 and will be available for Xbox One, PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
