Robert Pattinson On Why He’s Afraid To Talk About The Batman

DC fans might be excited to see what Robert Pattinson might look like as the Dark Knight in Matt Reeve's upcoming mystery noir comic book movie The Batman, but it seems like The Twilight star is still pretty scared talking about the project.

The Lighthouse actor just recently went on an interview with The New York Times for an in-depth article about reinventing himself in art-house movies, and during the discussion, the actor was asked to briefly discuss his role in The Batman. The Times couldn't help but notice how Pattinson paused when talking about his comic book movie role, and the actor opened up about the fear that he has when speaking about the film.

"I just fear that when I say anything about Batman, people online are like, ‘What does this mean?' And I don't know! I used to be very good at censoring myself, but I've said so many ridiculous things over the years, so I'm always curious when I'm promoting these movies how many times I can mess up," Pattinson admitted, "It feels like, with every movie that comes out, there's always one quote from me where it's like, ‘How? What kind of out-of-body experience produced that screaming nonsense?'"

It makes sense why Pattinson would be afraid of speaking about the film. There's a lot more pressure to reel in spoilers when working on major blockbuster movies than in art house films, especially with big franchise entries like The Batman.

Keeping spoilers under wraps shouldn't be a new thing for Pattinson seeing how he's starred in the Harry Potter franchise and how he took a lead role in Twilight, but it's been a while since the actor's appeared in a major blockbuster.

The Batman is set to premiere on June 25, 2021.
