Robert Downey Jr. Is This Year’s Best Hero At The MTV Movie And TV Awards

There's been a lot of great superhero films this year, but it looks like MTV's Best Hero at the 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards went to none other than Robert Downey Jr., the man behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Iron Man.

MTV just recently held its annual Movie and TV Awards today, and the award for Best Hero was given to Robert Downey Jr, beating other contenders like Brie Larson's Captain Marvel and Maisie William's Arya Stark from Game of Thrones. The award doesn't come as a surprise. Iron Man took the spotlight this year, sacrificing himself to save the world from the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.

Downey has long since been Marvel's, Iron Man. In fact, it was Tony Stark that first began the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a franchise that sprung from the success of Jon Favreau's 2008 Iron Man movie. Tony Stark has had a long journey since then, beginning as a self-centered billionaire into a true hero of the MCU. Taking the Infinity Stones from Thanos in Endgame, Tony uses his own Infinity Gauntlet to turn the Mad Titan and his men into dust, saving the universe from total annihilation.

Fans continue to grieve over the loss of Tony. There's certainly going to be a whole lot of heartbreak when everyone sees Tom Holland's Peter Parker dealing with the loss of his greatest mentor in the next Spider-Man film, Far From Home.

How do you feel about Tony winning this year's Best Hero award? Think it's fitting too?

Spider-Man: Far From Home premieres July 2, 2019.
