Robert Downey Jr. is Bringing This Classic DC/Vertigo Comic to Hulu

Most fans know Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark aka Iron Man, as he was the first actor to grace an MCU film. He has since become associated with the Marvel Studios brand, so it's interesting to see him involved in a new comic project from the Direct Competition. Ok, to be fair, it's the Direct Competition's other comic book brand Vertigo but it's still something most people associate with DC.

According to Deadline, Downey is trying to bring Vertigo classic Sweet Tooth to Hulu, which is huge news. Downey and his wife's production company, Team Downey, are reportedly working on producing the drama with Warner Bros. association. Sweet Tooth will be written and directed by Jim Mickle, who co-created and wrote for the Sundance TV series Hap and Leonard. Other executive producers for the project include fellow Hap and Leonard collaborator Linda Moran, and Amanda Burrell.

If you haven't read it yet, Sweet Tooth is a modern classic from master comic book creator Jeff Lemire. The series centers around a deer/human hybrid named Gus, who goes joins a ragtag group of characters, some of whom are humans and hybrids. Like a lot of Lemire's works, it centers around fatherhood and growing up, with a fascinating setting that can be used for great drama.

No release date or actors have been revealed for the project, so fans of the acclaimed comic book will have to wait. This isn't the only comic book property that will be in Hulu, as the service is also home to iZombie and The Runaways.
