People assume that there is no life outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but that's where most of them are wrong as Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. himself is the first one to prove that the billion-dollar franchise isn't the "endgame". In fact, it made him realize that he can start over again.
Widely regarded by fans as the patriarch of the MCU, Robert pretty much kicked off the franchise back in 2008 and helped put it on the map. 13 years later, it has seemingly become an unstoppable force and the hits just keep on coming.
But you know what they say, all good things must come to an end and RDJ's MCU journey finally came to a close after his character Tony Stark made the ultimate sacrifice to save the universe in Avengers: Endgame. Now, Downey is enjoying his Avengers retirement while exploring new things in his career.
Now, the 55-year-old actor has a little piece of advice for his co-star Tom Holland and it's a valuable one at that. In a recent interview with GQ Magazine, RDJ said that Holland should continue pursuing other stuff outside the MCU bubble and there's nothing wrong with it.
He then went on to say that he's hopeful the Cherry actor won't have to play Spider-Man when he's 37. Downey says: "Look, Tom won't be playing Spider-Man when he's 37. At least I hope not. And when you're in the MCU, there's a feeling of all life beginning with it and ending it. But there's life outside too. I can confirm this. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt...What I am saying is there was a Spider-Man before Tom Holland and there will be a Spider-Man after Tom Holland."
Obviously, RDJ wants Holland and his other Marvel castmates for that matter to explore new horizons in their respective careers which I believe is a smart move. Sure, it's nice to become a part of a global box office juggernaut but at the end of the day, they're still actors who need to hone their crafts.
Meanwhile, Spider-Man: No Way Home hits cinemas in December.
