When Jay-Z was still the CEO of Def Jam Records, he heard RiRi’s demo that, he invited her to audition for him. She was then signed to a six-album record deal in 2004.
Her debut studio album, Music of the Sun, dropped in August 2005, followed by her second LP, A Girl Like Me, in April 2006. In 2007, she released Good Girl Gone Bad and its lead single, “Umbrella,” earned her a Grammy in 2008.

She had a $25-million contract with Samsung to promote the brand’s Galaxy line in 2015. She also works with different brands, like MAC Cosmetics, Armani, Dior, Gucci and more.
She used to be Puma’s creative director in 2014 and the co-owner of the music streaming service, Tidal, with Jay-Z, Madonna and Kanye West.
In 2017, she launched her own makeup line, Fenty Beauty, collaborating with the luxury maker LVMH’s Kendo Brands. For its first two months, it quickly earned a revenue of $100 million.
In a year, it made $570 million. It said to have a total value of $2-$3 billion, based on a seven-time revenue multiple.
She reportedly owns 50% of it and her stake is said to be worth $1-$1.5 pre-tax.
In addition, she also co-owns the lingerie brand Savage X Fenty, which she launched in 2018. She reportedly owns 30% of the brand and it is now worth $1 billion.
