Henry Cavill's official removal as the DC Universe's Superman is still a tough pill to swallow for a lot of folks but since it's already quite obvious that we'll never see him suit up again as the Man of Steel, it's time to look into the future and accept the fact that the franchise is ushering in a brand new chapter for the beloved character.
After James Gunn confirmed that he's writing the next Superman story which will focus on a much younger Clark Kent, speculation has been running high as to which actor the Peacemaker director will cast as Cavill's successor. Naturally, some fans already have a few names in mind but it looks like legendary '80s singer Rick Astley is up for contention. Well, he thinks he is, at least.
In a recent Twitter post, the iconic singer whose music is forever immortalized thanks to the "Rickroll" meme campaigned to become the next man to don the Superman suit. Posting an edited image of himself wearing the costume, Astley hilariously wrote: "It's been years since I put this on but it still fits! Ready and waiting @JamesGunn".
Hmm. A Superman who's never gonna give you up and never gonna let you down? Why not. Check it out here:

As it stands, key details regarding James Gunn and Peter Safran's Superman reboot are still being kept under wraps but there's no denying that the beloved director isn't earning himself popularity points from fans after letting go of Cavill. I've always had faith in his creative vision and as much as I'm disappointed that we'll never get to see Henry as Superman again, I still believe that the DCU is in good hands with Gunn on board.
In other DCU news, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is slated for theatrical release on March 17, 2023.
