Rick and Morty Season 4 to Only Have 10 Episodes

It's been a long wait, but Rick and Morty Season 4 is finally arriving this November. We don't know much about the season yet, but new info has revealed that we should be expecting the same number of episodes this time around.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, show co-creator Justin Roiland was asked about the episode count for the new season, and he simply replied: "This new season will be 10."

It's funny that the show is keeping the 10-episode count since Rick and Morty was recently renewed for 70 more episodes by Adult Swim. A lot of people thought this would lead to more episodes per season, but now I guess we should expect 7 more 10-episode seasons. Of course, it's still likely that the showrunners will change their mind at some point, but I guess only time will tell.

Honestly, when it was announced that Rick and Morty was approved for more episodes, it came out as kind of bittersweet to me. While the show has had a phenomenal run with the past three seasons, I think that too many episodes can cause strain for the writers. I mean, you can only make episodes so interesting. If they try to pump out too much too fast, I think there's a chance we could see a decline in episode quality.

The good news is, it looks like the wait between seasons will be shortened, and we'll have a good amount of content coming in for the next few years.

Rick and Morty Season 4 is set to debut in Adult Swim this November. The SDCC 2019 panel for the show takes place July 19, 1 p.m. PT.
