Rian Johnson's Knives Out Gets Overwhelmingly Positive Reviews At TIFF

Rian Johnson is ready for a major comeback. The Star Wars: The Last Jedi director has just debuted his new film Knives Out at the Toronto International Film Festival and it is already getting some overwhelmingly positive reviews.

A new report from Rotten Tomatoes simply couldn't stop gushing about Knives Out, the black comedy murder mystery with a stellar cast that includes Chris Evans, Daniel Craig, Toni Collette, Michael Shannon, and Ana de Armas. Although the star power alone should be enough to get people interested in the movie, critics who attended the film's TIFF premiere are now doling out some impressive reviews about the movie.

"Critics love this movie, so far, from its wholly delightful ensemble cast and their big comedic performances to the smart suspense of the storytelling, which keeps viewers guessing until the film's final moments," the report read before adding, "Many were even quick to claim that this will be high on year-end lists."

So what do the critics have to say about the film? Carla Renata of The Curvy Film Critic says "Knives Out is pure fun from beginning to end and a popcorn crunching whodunit of the highest accord." Collider's Adam Chitwood agrees, stating that "it's one of the most purely satisfying and enjoyable moviegoing experiences I've had in recent memory."

Interestingly, the critics are citing Johnson's screenplay as the real reason why Knives Out is so good. The Hollywood Reporter's David Rooney writes, "Johnson's screenplay in many ways is the star here, with its well-oiled plot mechanics and guileful twists and turns, constantly pulling the rug out from under the audience as much as the characters."

We're loving these reviews and can't wait to see Knives Out in theaters later this year.

Knives Out is scheduled for release on November 27.
