Resident Evil Reboot Could Turn Into A TV Series Instead Of A Film

Constantin Film might still be working on a reboot of the Resident Evil film franchise but it looks like the focus of the reboot might be shifting from film to television.

Martin Moszkowicz, a film executive from Constantin Film, just recently attended the Cannes Film Festival last weekend. Speaking with Variety during his time at the Cannes Film Festival, the film exec confirmed that the studio's still working on a reboot of Resident Evil. However, it seems like the studio's now thinking of turning the reboot into a TV series instead.

"The main thing is to get it right creatively so people don't think it's more of the same," Moszkowicz told the publication. "That's what it's all about these days, a fresh, different approach."

The original film, the 2002 Resident Evil, was an adaptation of a popular Capcom video game series of the same name. Written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, the film was a commercial success despite receiving mixed reviews from critics. Because of its hand at the box office, the film spawned five sequels all starring original actress Milla Jovovich.

Now, according to Moszkowicz, Jovovich and Anderson aren't going to have any involvement with the Resident Evil reboot. However, the two are working on adapting Monster Hunter, another popular Capcom video game series.

The Resident Evil reboot doesn't have a release date just yet but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
