Reliable Star Wars Source Responds to Ridiculous Star Wars: Episode IX Title Leak

There is a report going around that Star Wars: Episode IX will set itself apart from the previous films by going with a one-word title. How accurate is this? Jason Ward of Making Star Wars has responded to the rumor.

For those who don't know, Ain't It Cool News is claiming that the film will be called Skywalkers. Naturally, fans immediately dismissed the rumor as no more than an April Fool's prank since it is just one word, a major departure from the title format that the franchise has followed since it began.

However, some thought that the website might be on to something and that the name of the beloved Force-sensitive family we have followed for years may at least be part of the official title.

Making Star Wars is a reliable source for all things Star Wars, so it is more trusted when it comes to production news. When asked about the supposed on Twitter, Ward had this to say:

This response could mean that the leaked title is indeed inaccurate. Disney and Lucasfilm are being extra careful this year not to spoil Star Wars: Episode IX. It is believed that only a small number of people besides director J.J. Abrams know what the title is, so it is impossible to get a hold of that information, at least at this point.

Ain't It Cool News, which shot to popularity in the 1990s for their scoops and reviews on all things geek, said that the "spy" who gave the information teased the possibility of the existence of another Skywalker. Most specifically, the film may apparently delve into Yoda's cryptic line in Empire Strikes Back when he tells Force ghost Obi-Wan that "there is another." Many people assumed it was Leia at the time.

Either way, it doesn't look like we will be getting the official title for Star Wars: Episode IX anytime soon. The hope is that we get our first look of the trilogy capper at Star Wars Celebration Chicago in two weeks. There is going to be a panel centered on the upcoming film so we are bound to learn more.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits cinemas December 20. SWCC is scheduled April 11-15.
