Queen Consort Camilla and King Charles released their Christmas card Sunday. At first glance, Camilla seemed to give her husband a loving gaze in the shot, but it was not the case, according to a body language expert.

Queen Consort Camilla Is Not Looking At Her Husband, King Charles, In Christmas Card Photo?

Body language expert Judi James weighed in on the king and Queen's new Christmas card photo released Sunday. In the shot, Camilla appears to be looking at King Charles because her face is directed toward him. She seemed to be looking into his eyes lovingly. However, James noted that Camilla is actually not staring at her husband but at something or someone outside the frame.

So, the picture was "misleading" as it would be easy to interpret that she is giving her husband a loving gaze.

"This looks like a loving gaze from Camilla to Charles to also show fondness and admiration. But in fact, this is a little misleading, even though the sentiments are obviously correct," James told Express.

She continued, "The direction of Camilla's eye gaze does not actually seem to be aimed at Charles' face! On closer inspection, she seems to be grinning at someone to her right, which would give her a more sociable image."

The photo captures the side profile of King Charles wearing a tweed jacket with a red, green and beige tie. Camilla is all smiles while wearing a green suit with a matching hat with a brown and a red feather.

King Charles And Camilla Chose A 'Symbolic Photo' For Christmas Card?

James added that the photo on the card was a "symbolic choice" for the couple. The snap was taken this year shortly before the Queen passed away and King Charles took over the throne.

"This seems to be a very symbolic choice of photo for their Christmas card this year. Firstly there is the traditional styling and setting," the expert explained. "Charles is wearing tweed and Camilla is in full Scottish mode to register ongoing unity with the North, as well as a message of continuity rather than change."

"Prince Charles was not yet king when this photo was taken, but he is shot in profile in a rather regal pose that will now be a familiar one from coins and postage stamps."

James also noted that King Charles appears good-humored but thoughtful in the shot. In contrast to other Christmas cards, this time, His Majesty, did not address the camera directly using eye contact.
