Prince Harry was criticized for snubbing his grandmother Queen Elizabeth after skipping Prince Philip's memorial service. A political commentator said he lost his sense of service and duty but was willing to align himself with celebrities.

Prince Harry Allegedly Not Showing Sense Of Duty To His Home Country

Political commentator and thinktank researcher Calvin Robinson weighed in on Prince Harry's decision to skip his grandfather's memorial service last month when he spoke to Sky News Australia. Robinson criticized the Duke of Sussex's move to sideline his family.

For him, Prince William's younger brother had “lost all sense of service and duty and obligation to his family," to "the nation" and "wider community of the Commonwealth" when he snubbed his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, by skipping Prince Philip's special memorial service. He also doubled down by criticizing Prince Harry's priorities as the royal seemed keen to align himself with celebrities.

"He's willing to align himself with singers and celebrity culture but he cannot go home to mourn the loss of a loved national figure," Robinson said, per Daily Star. "It really is sad because you would just think he would be there for the Queen at the very least."

Robinson believed that it was best for the Duke of Sussex to attend the family event. He "should have been there to support" the 95-year-old monarch because she's his grandmother.

Prince Harry Snubbing The Queen By Skipping Grandfather's Funeral Was Unforgivable

Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle Sr., was among those who criticized the Duke of Sussex for not attending his grandfather Prince Philip's memorial service last month. The former lighting director said Prince Harry's move was "unforgivable."

"Attending and giving respect and God's grace to Prince Philip for a lifetime of service was very important to the Queen, and for them to not show up is like a slap in the face to the Queen and unforgivable," Thomas Sr. said in the third episode of his YouTube show with Karl Larsen "Remarkable Friendship." "The British people won't forgive them for that, and they shouldn't. Otherwise, it was a good service and went down very well. And well deserved for that man."

When Larsen asked if it was possible his daughter influenced Prince Harry's decision to skip the event since Prince Philip allegedly discouraged the royal prince from marrying an actress, the Markle patriarch said he wasn't sure.

"I don't know what the reason was," Thomas said before adding, "but there was no excuse for it, regardless of what. There's no excuse at all."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are both traveling to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games 2020 in the Hague.
