Prince Harry and Prince William's relationship with the media has been explored in BBC's new documentary The Princes And The Press. The network dropped the first part of the two-part documentary Monday, and it showed a "grumpy" Duke of Sussex during his and Meghan Markle's royal tour to Fiji in 2018.
Prince Harry Was Grumpy And Glowering During Fiji Royal Tour
The first episode of The Princes And The Press featured Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal tour in 2018, where they visited Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand after they got married. According to The Times royal correspondent Valentine Low, Prince Harry didn't like seeing the uninvited journalists in the opening ceremony, and he didn't hide his dislike. He was allegedly "glowering" at them.
"Harry had been pretty grumpy on that tour," Low was quoted by Express as saying in the documentary. "I do remember there was a long and incredibly boring welcoming ceremony in Fiji."
He remembered Markle sitting well on a "little throne." However, her husband wasn't as pleased as she was.
"Harry was just glowering, he was very cross, he’s cross with the media, and he spent the entire welcoming ceremony just diverting his gaze to one side just to stare daggers at the press pack," Low added.
Low also remembered Prince Harry being combative during their flight from Tonga to Sydney. Markle's husband was persuaded by his staff to speak to the press, and he did. However, his words weren't that friendly.
"Thanks very much for coming, guys, not that you were invited," Prince Harry reportedly said.
According to Low, "it went down incredibly badly."
Prince Harry Says Every Camera Flash Takes Him Back To Princess Diana's Death
The Duke of Sussex admitted that he wasn't comfortable around the press, especially when he saw camera flashes. Prince Harry admitted that it reminded him of his mom Princess Diana's death.
The late Princess of Wales died in a car crash in Paris. According to reports, paparazzi were chasing the royal's car before the accident.
"I think being part of this family, in this role and this job, every single time I see a camera, every single time I hear a click, every single time I see a flash, it takes me straight back," he told ITV's Tom Bradby in an interview after he and Meghan Markle returned from their royal tour. "So in that respect, it's the worst reminder of her life as opposed to the best."

Prince Harry also doesn't like the false narrative reported against his wife. He admitted his deepest fear was "history repeating itself."
Prince Harry blamed the press for his mother's death. He is feeling the same way when it comes to the media's non-stop negative reports about Markle. The Duchess of Sussex admitted that there was a time when she was suicidal due to the false headlines reported about her.
"I've seen what happens when someone I love is commoditized to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person. I lost my mother, and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces," Prince Harry said.
