Prince Harry continues to face criticisms and condemnation following his shocking departure from the royal family in January 2020. The son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana chose to fly off to the United States with his wife, Meghan Markle, and ditch the life in Britain for good.

At the time, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle cited their plans to become financially independent from the palace as one of the reasons behind their infamous “Megxit.” However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex later revealed that “racism” behind the palace doors is actually the main reason why they made their royal exit.

Prince Harry’s most recent revelation raised many eyebrows, including former head of royal protection Dai Davies, who said that Meghan Markle’s husband could not just pick and choose. The former police officer, during an appearance on talkRADIO, also advised the Duke of Sussex to “keep quiet for a little while, that will lower [his] profile a great deal.”

Dai Davies’ comments pushed some netizens to come to Prince Harry’s defense. One netizen wrote:

"There was never any good reason to parade a grieving child behind his mother's corpse. This brutal disregard for that boy's feelings enriched a lot of media outlets that day. That boy's trauma was made into a spectacle. He is owed protection now."

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex personally fund a private security team for their family, yet that security cannot replicate the necessary police protection needed whilst in the U.K. In the absence of such protection, Prince Harry and his family are unable to return to his home.”
