Disney+ Day has a cool surprise for fans of the Alien and Predator franchise! Predator 5, which is set to be a prequel, has just been given an official title and release date set for 2022!

The update on the Predator prequel was dropped during Disney+ Day. The fifth film of the franchise is now cleverly titled Prey. In addition to that, the new movie will be released in Summer 2022 on Hulu.

Prey was helmed by 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg, who had shared an update on the project back in September. The filmmaker posted a behind-the-scenes photo confirming that the movie wrapped production two months ago. Additionally, the image revealed that the working title was Skulls and this may have been a possible title for the film.

Disney+ also shared the first poster and logo for the new Predator movie. Check them out below.

Although casting details have not been announced, Deadline shared the premise of the new Predator movie. According to the outlet, Prey is "set in the world of the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, following Naru, a skilled female warrior who fiercely protects her tribe against a highly evolved alien predator." This means that the focus will once again be on humanity and how we have always fought against the invaders in the past.

There were concerns about the new Predator film before the update was dropped. Some fans were worried that the project would be pushed back in favor of other Disney properties. However, it looks like the House of Mouse is determined to push through with Prey and we'll finally get to see the film next year.

Prey has not yet been given an official release date. However, the new Predator film is already set to premiere on Hulu in Summer 2022.
