Mapollo 3’s Shonen Jump manga was sadly canceled earlier this year, but that’s not the end for the manga artist. That’s because the PPPPPP creator recently confirmed that he will return with a new magical girl manga this weekend on Jump+.

This new manga was revealed by Mapollo 3 on their personal X (formerly Twitter) account. The reveal came with an illustration of what seems to be the new series’ main character.

PPPPPP’s creator coming back with a new manga by the same publisher is great news, especially given how ruthless Shonen Jump is when it comes to canceling titles.

Weekly Shonen Jump is one of the most popular shonen manga magazines in Japan, and it is home to some of the biggest global manga hits like One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, and more.

Because of this, it’s a huge goal for any shonen manga creator to get a series serialized on Jump. Getting on the magazine is a big achievement, though a creator can’t take it easy after that.

This is because Shonen Jump routinely cancels (or "axes" as fans call it) manga that don’t perform well. In fact, some titles only get a couple of volumes’ worth of chapters before they get replaced by a new series.

Thus, there is a lot of pressure for any new manga artist to continue delivering good chapters. Even if the manga has been ongoing for a year, it’s still unsafe.

After all, PPPPPP was canceled even after being serialized for over a year.

Established manga creators aren’t safe either. For instance, Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto got his Samurai 8 manga canceled in less than a year.

PPPPPP Manga Creator to Launch Anti-World Magical Girl Tsubame This Weekend

Despite being ruthless when it comes to canceling titles, Shueisha does at least seem to give authors several chances. For instance, Tatsuya Endo of Spy x Family fame got to work on various titles before landing his huge hit.

It seems that’s also going to be the case with Mapollo 3 as they are set to launch their new manga titled Tai Sekaiyo Maho Shojo Tsubame (or Anti-World Magical Girl Tsubame in English) on Shonen Jump+.

There’s no word yet on what the series will be about, but presumably, it will have a different take on the magical girl genre based on its title.

As for its release, the manga will be serialized on Shonen Jump+ in Japan. There’s no word yet on English release plans for Manga Plus.
