Power Rangers Trailer Shows the Evil Rita Repulsa in Action

Lionsgate and Saban are readying every, even beyond the U.S., of the arrival of the new and improved Power Rangers. The reboot is set to hit in March, and now we’ve got a sneak peek at the international trailer for Japan.

Seen below, the video shows the start of the five teenagers discovering their unnatural superpowers, before being confronted with the mighty Zordon of Bryan Cranston.

It’s almost hard to not get a laugh out of Cranston’s Zordon, mostly because I can almost see his eye roll when the teenagers think it’s a game—“It’s a hologram, like in the video game!”

If the Power Rangers do have this kind of fun, I think I would want to see the reboot. I can’t remember far back on how the original five used to be, because my focus on the Power Rangers as a kid would always be on when they’re already in their costumes, and not them in their regular teenage selves.

I hope there will be a training period for them, in the same as most Japanese shonen fighting anime/manga productions do. From the looks of it, she just wants to see the whole world burn. Classic antagonist motivations.

As for Elizabeth Banks Rita Repulsa, she’s described as pure evil and she does look it, too.

Power Rangers will be out in theaters on March 24.

Final Fantasy XV will get more details at PAX East.
