Possible Plot Details for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

Marvel had just released their full Phase 4 lineup at the San Diego Comic-Con, and the first miniseries hitting Disney+ will be The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. We don't have any official details on the show yet, but it's possible we have an idea of what to expect.

Talking during Kevin Smith's Fatman Beyond, Mike Bernadin has somewhat confirmed that the show will tackle Sam Wilson's becoming the next Captain America. When Smith speculated that it would take place in the series, Bernadin explained, "That, I think, is the crux of what that show's going to be… The government doesn't want Sam Wilson to be Captain America... He's got the shield, they don't want him to have it. They want someone else to be Captain America."

Though it's unsure where Bernadin got his info, he seems pretty sure when he announced it during the show. He's considered to be a Hollywood writer after all, so it's very likely he has an insider source. Until we get something official, we should just take this with a grain of salt.

Then again, it's very likely that we could get Sam's transition as the new Cap in this show, seeing as fitting the story in one movie could prove to be too complicated. I can see the government not wanting him in the role as well, as he's went against the system during Captain America: Civil War. Sam and Cap were basically fugitives by the time Infinity War came along. It's likely they would want someone who they could keep in line like Rhodey a.k.a. War Machine.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is set to hit Disney+ in the fall of 2020.
