The Russo brothers are doing marketing and promotions for Avengers: Endgame a little bit different this time around to avoid spoilers from leaking, but one fan claims to have figured the plot out.
Comics Explained, who has been reading comic books for 25 years, dove into the decades' worth of lore he has learned over time, to make a bold prediction of what happens in the highly-anticipated film.
He believes that it will indeed involve time travel courtesy of Scott Lang via the quantum realm. He speculates that they will treat this place like the speed force in the Flash mythology, the very thing that gives speedsters their extraordinary speed and the ability to travel in time. The quantum realm does not just expand in space but encompasses all of time.
He believes that Banner and Tony will put their heads together to find a way for the group to successfully travel back in Avengers: Endgame, specifically to the Battle of Wakanda.
From there, Comics Explained believes that the heroes will take one of the Infinity Stones and will replace it with a fake. Can the heroes even trick The Mad Titan into thinking he's got the actual stone? He himself was able to do that in the Infinity War comic book storyline, where he creates a perfect duplicate of the Reality Stone after seeing the negative effects of the power to the evil version of Adam Warlock.
This means that when Thanos initiates the snap, it won't happen. This leads to Iron Man, Spider-Man, Doctor Stranger, Star-Lord, Drax, Nebula, and Mantis being able to make it to Earth to join the fight.
With all of them working together, they are able to kill Thanos, but not without casualty. He believes during the battle, Captain America is killed as he thinks it will have more impact based on what he represented in-universe and in real life, plus his comic book history.
He didn't elaborate on how Captain Marvel can join the fight in Avengers: Endgame, but she might just be there to fight since she is seen with the other survivors in the new special look released for the film. Watch the video below.
The synopsis for Avengers: Endgame reads:
The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios' grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame.
Avengers: Endgame hits the cinemas April 26.
