Solo: A Star Wars was a good movie by any standard, but the poor marketing and May release date are considered to be the catalyst to the movie's underperformance at the box office. Now news is coming out that it was actually Disney's decisions that probably led to the film failing in the first place.

According to Star Wars News Net, Lucasfilm had wanted to push the release date of Solo back to December after Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired, but Disney apparently ‘put their foot down' when it came to the May release date. Disney was said to have put too many projects on hold, but Solo wasn't one of them.

What's more, Disney was also said to have gone easy on the marketing for Solo, so it wouldn't mess with the promotion of Avengers: Infinity War.

With poor marketing and a release date close to Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2, it's no wonder Solo didn't do as great as the other recent Star Wars movies.

For now, Lucasfilm has decided to put a hold on all the other anthology movies so they can focus on the release of Episode IX and the trilogies that are coming after that. As a fan of Solo, I'm disappointed to hear it, but at least the projects weren't announced as cancelled.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is still out in theaters.
