Poll Reveals How Fans are Torn Between Anakin and Obi-Wan as Star Wars’ Greatest Jedi

Celebrating the home release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Lucasfilm decided to put up a little poll asking fans about the most powerful Jedi.

Reminded that Episode IX is the final entry in the Skywalker saga, the studio decided to have fans choose between Obi-Wan and Anakin in a poll that would decide which of the two was the franchise's greatest Jedi. While most fans rationally gave the credit to Anakin Skywalker, the Jedi who would eventually turn to the Dark Side to become Star Wars most iconic villain, the results of the poll show that fans are also keen on Obi-Wan.

Right now, the results of the poll show that 53% of the respondents believe that Anakin is the greatest Jedi while 47% believe that the title actually belongs to Anakin's master, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The results shouldn't come as a surprise. While we all know that Anakin was Star Wars chosen one, Obi-Wan Kenobi was a true Jedi Knight. Fans loved Obi-Wan in both the original trilogy (played by Alec Guinness) and the prequels (played by Ewan McGregor) and for the longest time ever, fans have been clamoring for Obi-Wan to star in his own movie.

Now, Obi-Wan is set to appear in his very own Disney+ series with McGregor reprising his role as the fan-favorite Jedi Knight. New reports reveal that the series is set to premiere sometime in 2022, a long, long way off from now. Guess fans are just going to have to hunker down and wait.
