Poll Listing Favorite Star Wars Characters Has Jar Jar Binks Beating Kylo Ren

It might seem like a terrible joke, but it looks like characters like Jabba the Hutt and Jar Jar Binks are a bit more popular than Kylo Ren.

Research and polling firm Morning Consult just recently conducted a survey in the United States, asking 2,200 adults various questions about the Star Wars franchise. While some of these questions involved the sample size's favorite Star Wars movies and the sample size's intention of watching Star Wars: The Last Jedi in cinemas, the poll that we're highlighting is one that measures the favorability of the different characters.

According to the research firm's poll, classic Star Wars characters actually beat out the newer faces in the franchise in terms of favorability. Princess Leia (73%) earned the top spot in the poll, which was followed by her brother Luke (72%), Chewbacca (72%), Yoda (72%), R2-D2 (71%), Han Solo (68%),Obi-Wan Kenobi (65%),and C-3PO (55%).

Only a few of the sequel trilogy characters make it into the list, and when they do they come out at the lower end of the list, with Finn (39%) and BB-8 (39%)measuring at a lower percentage than Jabba the Hutt(42%), and Rey (38%)and Kylo Ren (32%) coming in even lower than that.

Based on the findings of the research firm, it seems like the survey's respondents like characters from the original trilogy a whole lot more than the newer Star Wars movies – which isn't a surprise really, since these characters are all-time classics.

Lucasfilm's next Star Wars movie, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, hits cinemas this Friday, December 15, 2017.
