Pokemon Home is here and fans are split on the service, especially since we have to pay a yearly fee just to have a "home" for our Pokemon. The app will be needed if players want to transfer older Pokemon to Sword and Shield or future games down the line. It also doesn't help how The Pokemon Company's marketing forces fans to get attached to their Pokemon, hence all of those Dexit complaints.
We doubt that it will be enough but anyone who logs in to Pokemon Home does get a free Kanto starter for Pokemon Sword and Shield. Anyone who logs in will be able to choose between Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Obviously, since you already get a Charmander during the events of Sword and Shield, you will choose either Bulbasaur or Squirtle.
Seriously, if you freaking choose Charmander instead of the other two, you're a freaking monster.
Obviously, if you want both Bulbasaur and Squirtle, you're gonna have to trade with someone else. If you're one of those Pokemon fans who have two Nintendo Switches and profiles, then this isn't a problem for you. Everyone else will need to trade with their friends and breed their Kanto starters since people are going to want them.
Pokemon Home, along with Pokemon Sword and Shield, are now available on Nintendo Switch.
