The newest Wonka movie sure boasts a stellar ensemble. But apart from its lead cast, the prequel also includes premiere British comedians like Olivia Colman, Simon Farnaby, Paterson Joseph, and even Phil Wang. Speaking of the latter, here's who Phil Wang plays in Wonka!
Comedian Phil Wang's Hilarious Backstage Mishap on Wonka Set
For the uninitiated, Phil Wang is a beloved stand-up comic who headlined his world tour, a Netflix special in 2021 called Philly Philly Wang Wang, landed a role on Life & Beth, and is one of the featured cameos in the Wonka prequel film.
Recently making an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Wang shared some behind-the-scenes on how he landed his mystery role in the Wonka film.
This, unfortunately, includes injuring his arm while dancing on set with Timothée Chalamet:
And then we got to the day, you know. [We were] opposite Timothée Chalamet, we're dancing on these tables, I'm so excited. And then I did this jump and I landed on the table and it just broke under me. I landed down really hard and people rushed over to me to see if I was okay. Timothée , bless him, jumped off the table but was picked up by a gentle breeze. [Then I called my mom.] Well, she's a joint doctor, and I had to turn my arm like this [and told me], 'You fractured your [...] hand.'

The Comedian's Brief Wonka Role & Cameo Appearance Explained
The involvement of Phil Wang in Wonka was short but sweet. He plays the character Colin, one of the dancers in the background.
Describing the character, Wang said it's a relatively 'small part' that involved doing a musical number alongside the titular chocolatier himself:
I have a small part in Wonka. I don't know if I can say it, but it was very mysterious at first 'cause you just got these emails saying, Can Phil sing? Yeah. Can Phil dance? Uh-huh. And I was like, 'They're forming BTS again.' And taking it seriously this time. And then it was [doing a little singing and dancing] with Timothée Chalamet. It was very exciting. [It was] pretty neat. I'm a triple threat now.
Meanwhile, the official synopsis for the Wonka movie reads:
