Marvel is heading down a new path now that Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home has put an end to the Infinity Saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While Phase 4 will see the return of a few familiar faces, this new chapter of the MCU is also going to see the introduction of new heroes like Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, Simu Liu's Shang-Chi, Kit Harrington's Dane Whitman/ Black Knight, and many others.
That's not all, of course. Phase 4 is going to explore the multiverse even further after introducing its existence in films like Doctor Strange and Ant-Man and the Wasp. But how many universes is Marvel planning to explore?
According to a report by Screen Rant, Marvel fans are likely going to see at least three different universes pop up in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Marvel will still follow the primary reality where all the Infinity Saga movies have taken place (and where the timeline is set at 2023 following the five-year time-jump in Avengers: Endgame ), fans are going to see two different timelines.
One will be explored in the upcoming Loki series that Marvel is developing in Disney+. During the time heist in Endgame, the Avengers returned to the Battle of New York to borrow the Mind Stone, the Time Stone, and the Space Stone. While the Scepter and the Eye of Agamotto were acquired, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) managed to steal the Tesseract and teleport with the crystal in the middle of some unexpected commotion.
This creates another timeline, one which is going to be explored in Loki.
The third timeline is potentially going to be explored in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a film that everyone's so eager to see.
There's probably going to be even more timelines now that Marvel is entering Phase 4 of the MCU. We can't wait to see how many there will be.
