Long before Zack Snyder's once famed cut of Justice League was even a thing, Star Wars fans have already been pushing for an extended director's cut version of Revenge of the Sith to get released. Rumors have been swirling all over the internet for years now that Episode III's original cut actually featured a runtime of 4 hours as opposed to the theatrical release which only had a runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes.

As it stands, there's still no evidence that proves that a 4-hour version of the iconic Star Wars prequel film actually exists but fans are convinced that it's authentic thanks to previous testimonies from people who worked on the film, claiming that a lot of scenes where cut from the theatrical release.

Now, thanks to the success of the Snyder Cut, an online petition calling for the release of the alleged 4-hour cut of George Lucas' Revenge of the Sith has gained new traction all over the internet. Launched 2 years ago, the Change.Org petition has once again generated signatures from fans, and currently, it's about to cross 40,000 signatures. Check it out here.

Now, whether or not the supposed supercut of Episode III will ever see the light of day remains to be seen but you can never say never for sure. And even if the famed cut doesn't end up becoming a real thing, at least we're now getting ourselves the return of Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan.

Speaking of, Obi-Wan is scheduled for release in 2022.
