The Batman has officially begun production, and though we have an idea on most of the main cast and who they're playing, there are still some characters that are left a mystery to us. Thanks to a recent press release from WB though, we now have confirmation on who Peter Sarsgaard and Jayme Lawson are playing.
As per the announcement (via ComicBookMovie), Sarsgaard is playing Gotham District Attorney Gil Colson, with Lawson playing the part of mayoral candidate Bella Real. We don't have any details on how these characters will be significant in the film, but I have a feeling one of them (or even both) is going to die before the end.
Seeing that Harvey Dent is the more infamous attorney in the Batman lore, I have a hunch that Sarsgaard's Gil Colson will be taken out of office, with Dent sent to replace him. We don't have any news on who Dent could be in this universe, but rumors have been going around that Robert Pattinson's Tenet co-star John David Washington had been cast.
After years of waiting, things are finally kicking off for the Batman movie. Though I'm personally bummed that Affleck won't be the star, I hope that Reeves and his team have come up with a story that will justify an alternate timeline apart from the DCEU. Do you think it would be too much to have this linked with Todd Phillips' Joker movie?
For now, The Batman is set for a release on June 25, 2021.
