Peter Sarsgaard Reveals His Character for The Batman

When Peter Sarsgaard was announced for The Batman, fans were curious about who he would be playing since the movie seems to be based on a number of classic comics and has a number of villains in it. However, when the actor appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, it was revealed that Sarsgaard would be playing an original character made for the movie, which will disappoint some and intrigue others.

Apparently, Sarsgaard will be playing a corrupt politician called Gil Colson, who has a hard time being honest. It sounds funny because there are so many corrupt politicians in the world right now but this should fit right in with the world of The Batman. After all, how many good politicians can you name from his comic? Yeah, I thought so.

"Gil Colson, yeah yeah, and I'm a district attorney, and I'm basically a politician that has trouble telling the truth. "I'm a pretty distasteful person in it. Daddy doesn't play nice people."

Original characters in comic book movies have had an interesting legacy as of late, with standouts like Phil Coulson eventually getting introduced in the comic books. There's a very good chance that Sarsgaard's Gil Colson will be appearing in the comics sometime after the movie comes out, which would be neat.

The Batman is currently scheduled for a June 25, 2021 release. Let's hope the movie isn't delayed by the Coronavirus.
