It looks like Warner Brothers is hard at work on its Young Alfred Batman prequel series, Pennyworth. Not only has the studio just cast main characters like Alfred himself and Thomas Wayne, but it's also started rounding up the series' supporting players.
According to CBR,Outlander's Ryan Fletcher and King of Crime's Hainsley Lloyd Bennet has just been cast as series regulars in Pennyworth. Fletcher is set to play the role of Dave Boy, while Bennet is taking on the role of Bazza, two of Alfred's closest confidants.
Previously working as special forces soldiers in the British SAS, Alfred, Dave Boy, and Bazza come together to make an exceptional fighting trio. However, ever since the team left the army, Scotsman Dave became a dire alcoholic – not very helpful given his pre-existing condition of being the most volatile member of the team. Meanwhile, Bazzas has been described as a "posh Bajan playboy." Bazzas talent for logistics has made him a very important member of Alfred's team.
Right now there isn't that much information about Pennyworth, though DC fans do know that the series is going to be a period piece taking place in 1960s London. Running for 10 episodes, fans expect the series to feature Alfred Pennyworth in his early days forming his own security company after his time as a British SAS soldier.
Gotham's Danny Canon is set to executive produce and direct the pilot of the upcoming series while Bruno Heller is expected to write a few other episodes and executive produce.
Pennyworth doesn't have a release date just yet but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
