Penguin and an Unnamed Villain Possibly Confirmed for The Batman

Matt Reeves' The Batman is aiming for a production start at the end of the year, so it would make sense that we would be getting some solid updates on the movie. As it turns out, we may have gotten confirmation on two villains for the movie.

According to Daniel Richtman from SuperBroMovies, the Penguin a.k.a. Oswald Cobblepot has been confirmed as a villain for the film with another unnamed one in the mix. The same source also says that Reeves is aiming for a detective mystery movie, so the likely guesses for the unnamed villain role are Hush, Riddler, or the Court of Owls.

With Birds of Prey giving us two Batman villains in the form of Black Mask and Victor Zsasz, I'm guessing that the Penguin is going to be a minor character with this unnamed antagonist being the primary bad guy. Then again, I'm always eager to see two villains shine equally in one film. They did it fantastically with The Dark Knight¸ giving memorable versions of Joker and Two-Face. Who's to say they can't do the same with this film?

As someone who's been following the progress of The Batman, I'm just happy to see more constant updates every week. At some point, it was even looking like this movie was never going to be made. Hopefully Reeves makes the late 2019 start. It's going to be a long wait, but this movie better be worth it.

The Batman has no official release date.
