There's no denying that The Mandalorian remains Star Wars' flagship series but unfortunately, while Season 3 started on a promising note, it failed to stick the landing and it's mainly due to the fact that the series seemingly sidelined Din Djarin in favor of Bo-Katan Kryze's ascension to the Mandalore throne.

Now, most of you are probably aware by now that the reason behind the show's drastic shift in creative direction had something to do with lead actor Pedro Pascal and his limited availability during filming.

Earlier this year, Pascal himself confirmed that he only did voice work for Season 3 and his current set-up allowed him to broaden his horizons. Well, it looks like Pascal's voice-only role in The Mandalorian could continue.

Bespin Bulletin reports that initial plans called for Season 4 to begin filming last September. Obviously, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes prevented that from happening. Now that both organizations have reached fair and reasonable deals, it's only a matter of time before Lucasfilm orders production to finally kickstart although a specific date hasn't been set in stone just yet.

However, Season 4 might encounter a similar problem the previous season had and it's Pedro Pascal's minimal physical involvement. The outlet claims that Pascal won't be taking part in filming due to his prior commitments, including Ridley Scott’s Gladiator which is slated to begin filming in a couple of weeks.

Cameras are also set to begin rolling for the second season of The Last of Us, another show Pascal leads in Spring 2024. Of course, it's best to take this report with a huge grain of salt, especially since we haven't heard from the actor himself.

Obviously, Pascal is the heart and soul of the series and we've already seen how his minimal involvement could impact the show as a whole. Hopefully, his busy schedule permits him to fully commit to Season 4's filming because Lucasfilm can't afford another Season 3 situation.

The first three seasons of The Mandalorian are available to stream on Disney+.
